Our Historical Existence
is all around us...
Chief Randy Verdun and genealogist/historian Audrey B.
Westerman CG (Certified Genealogist) at the original site of the Bayou Lafourche Band of
Biloxi-Chitimachas just south of the town of Golden Meadow, Louisiana on the
east bank of Bayou Lafourche. Bayou Lafourche was formerly known as River of the
Chitimachas.
This Indian dugout was found in the lower Lafourche parish area
in south Louisiana. Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes are part of the
indigenous territory inhabited by our ancestors, they are recorded in history as
the Eastern Band of Chitimachas. Top of Page |
